Guinea pigs are given lots of care at Somers Camp.

September 15, 2014

Of all the animals at Somers Camp the guinea pigs are a favourite with the children, they can be picked up, patted and brushed so its important that they are always handled very carefully.

Children can spend time during their environmental studies sessions and their free time caring for these gentle animals.

Sometimes the children will become a friend to a very special guinea pig, visiting it , brushing it and feeding it fresh grass and apple, in return their special guinea pig will give them warm, furry and friendly companionship while at Somers camp.

All the guinea pigs have names, Jet is a beautiful black one, Norbert is white and soft brown and the one in the photo, being held very gently, is Mopsy.
