Sand Sculpture at Somers Samp
April 22, 2015
Taking pride of place at Somers Camp is our wonderful sand sculpture. Carved from compacted sand by artists Clive Abben and Leo Vamvalis, the sculpture depicts a vortex of fish being chased by their preditors.
Sculpting techniques, used by the artists, are explored by the children during ther sand sculpting sessions on the beach. Children are also able to create their own marine creatures to place around the sculpture. The sculpture is an inspirational part of the art program at Somers Camp.
Oliver places his fish around the sculpture.
The children from Group 5 face the challenge of our High Ropes Course.
