Somers camp has new compound archery bows!

June 24, 2015

Somers Camp has upgraded the archery bows to compound bows! These are an exciting addition to our popular archery lesson. The new compound bows replace the old recurve bows and make Somers Camp one of the first camps in Australia to use this type of bow. While there are a few changes to the way children learn to fire with these compound bows they are far more accurate and hitting a bull's eye is a lot easier.

Somers Camp has been very fortunate to have the expert advice of internationally successful archer, Jeff Bell, in introducing the compound bow to our program. It has been very popular with the Somers students who have been able to broaden and improve their archery skills.
